Windows to voices
Opening windows to voices of Central Asian youth is an art installation presented at the Dushanbe Water Conference in 2024. With a group of four young water professionals
from Central Asia, we collected insights into water issues from the region.
"Look into the window that opens through the heart of the mountain. The mountain guards the woman. The woman is a symbol for all communities. In her footsteps, the youth follow to become stewards of nature. Finally, the snow leopard opens the window to Central Asia as envisioned by youth. The snow leopard guards the ecosystem as it patrols atop the mountain.
Here flows a river. Beginning at the mouth of the glacier, it joins the ocean. It connects everything. Do you see the complexity, interdependency and shared responsibility?"
We invited conference participants to add a message to the government, about their concern and vision for water issues in Central Asia. As the messages grew, the river unfolded and claimed space in the conference, peaking greater interest from participants.
